This exciting Triathlon event which is now in its second year will take place on Sunday the 22nd of May. The test event which took place last year was a great success with fantastic feedback from competitors and spectators. The aim of the event is to give like minded people the opportunity to race in a high quality standard distance event (Olympic) on the fabulous South Wales coast line.
With the experience gained from developing the Tuska triathlon event in 2004 and building its great reputation over the years gives us the confidence we can deliver an event that will be thoroughly enjoyed by its participants, their supporters and an event that Aim2tri can be proud of.
The nature of the course is designed to create an exciting atmosphere for the competitors and spectators with two laps to be completed for all three disciplines.(More Details Below)
Open Water Swim (1500 mtr)
The swim will take place in the sheltered bay of Coney Beach. The start will be a typical exciting Aussie beach start and consist of two laps of 750 metres exiting the water after each lap. We aim to make the swim as spectator friendly as possible with the two laps exiting the water with a short run on the Beach before commencing the second lap.
The Bike Course (40Km)
The cycle route is 40 km over a two lap undulating course with excellent road surface. It will follow the natural coastline towards Rest Bay and then head inland to the Nottage roundabout and onto the climb of Dan-y-Graig hill. It will then head towards the A-48 and head west up over Stormy Down to the Pyle roundabout. Straight over the roundabout and Turn left at North Cornelly. Head towards South Cornelly avoiding the village. Turn right at the roundabout past the Grove Golf Club heading towards Nottage roundabout and then back into Porthcawl for your second lap.
Run course 10K
The run distance is 10 km over two laps following the spectacular South Wales coastline. The run surface will be on the footpath, Lower Promenade and new cycle path to the turn around point at the junction to Rest Bay.
